Questions
How do I start, pause and stop a timer?
Tap a timer to start it, and the countdown fills the screen. Tap it again to start over from the top. Double tap, or tap with two fingers, to pause and resume. Long press, or tap the X in the corner, to stop and go back to your timers.
How do I change a timer, or add one?
Long press a timer, or tap the gear in the corner, to open settings. Drag a timer up or down to set its minutes and seconds, or tap the arrows above and below them to step it. The minutes move one at a time, and the seconds move by 1, 5 or 10: pick 1s, 5s or 10s at the bottom left of settings, and dragging the seconds moves by the same step. Your choice is remembered. Tap the bell to choose its sound and the X above it to remove it. Tap + to add a timer; you can have up to six. Changes are saved as you make them, so they’re there next time. Tap the check mark when you’re done. The ⓘ button in settings shows a quick guide to all of this.
The 1s, 5s and 10s choice is new in version 2.0.1. Before that, tapping stepped the seconds ten at a time, so if you don’t see it yet, update the app.
What happens when time runs out?
Over the last fifth of the time the screen fades from blue to red. At zero it plays the timer’s sound and turns red, and it keeps counting, below zero, so you can see how far over the talk has gone. Double tap to hear the sound again, tap to start over, or long press to stop.
I didn’t hear the sound.
Check that the timer’s sound isn’t set to None (tap its bell in settings) and that your device’s volume is up. On iPhone and iPad the sound plays even with the ring/silent switch on silent, and it mixes with any music that’s playing rather than stopping it. You can preview every sound in the sound list.
Will my screen turn off during a talk?
No. The screen stays on while a timer is running, and goes back to your usual setting when you stop it.
Does it need the internet, or collect anything?
No. Presentation Ender works offline and collects nothing. Your timers are kept on your device. See the privacy policy.
Where can I get it?
Presentation Ender is $1.99 on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android.
